My approach

If you're a beginner, enjoy learning alongside others and Monday evenings suit you, choose the group.

If you have a specific goal — work, a trip, an irregular schedule — or you simply want to move faster, choose one-to-one.

Yes, and it works well: the group for regular practice and social contact, plus individual sessions to target your own difficulties. Just mention it when we speak.

Eight people maximum. Small enough that everyone speaks in every session.

Yes — there's no session during half term, on Monday 2 November.

£300 for the complete 10-week programme: 20 hours of live tuition, which works out at £15 per hour. It includes the online practice platform, Fonetix pronunciation access and personalised feedback.

Yes: three monthly payments of £100, by bank transfer.

The course runs with a minimum of five participants. I confirm this at the beginning of September and let you know by email either way. If the course doesn't go ahead, you're refunded in full.

You'll receive the session materials and a short recap, and everything for that week is on the online platform so you can work through it in your own time.

In a group setting I'm not able to run the session again individually, but the following week always begins with a short warm-up that brings everyone back on track.

The group is small and I keep an eye on everyone. If something isn't clear, we go over it again. Nobody is left silently struggling at the back.

Nothing heavy: short, practical tasks on the online platform, plus pronunciation work on Fonetix. Around fifteen minutes, a few times a week.

Something to write with and something to write on. All course materials are provided.

Comeytrowe Community Hall is a local community building. If you have any access requirements, please tell me before you book and I'll check the details with the venue for you.

The journey continues. A follow-on course starts in January and the programme runs through to June, so you can keep building without a break. Priority is given to learners already on the course.

All three run over ten weeks:

• Essential — £500. One hour a week, ten hours in total.
• Plus — £700. An hour and a half a week (two sessions of 45 minutes), fifteen hours in total.
• Intensive — £900. Two hours a week (two sessions of one hour), twenty hours in total.

Every package includes the online platform, Fonetix access and personalised feedback.

One-to-one lessons take place online, on Zoom. Group classes are in person, in Taunton.

Just a stable internet connection and a computer with a webcam and microphone. I have a virtual classroom, and it's always the same link.

We agree a regular weekly slot together, so it becomes a fixed appointment in your week.

Yes, provided you email me at least 12 hours in advance. Below that, the lesson counts as taken and can't be moved.

Unused hours can be rescheduled for up to three months from the start of your package; after that, they expire.

Well, it happens. If the problem is at your end and the lesson can't go ahead, it counts as taken. If the problem is at mine, the lesson is rescheduled or refunded.

If I need to cancel — illness, technical failure, exceptional circumstances — the lesson is rescheduled at no extra cost. If rescheduling proves impossible, you're refunded pro rata.

That's exactly the point of one-to-one. Meetings with French colleagues, presenting or leading in French, buying a house in France, calling a plumber, family conversations — the content is built around your situation.

Yes. If you and your partner, a friend or a colleague are at a similar level, you can share one-to-one lessons. Get in touch and I'll put together a price for the two of you.

I speak English, so I can always translate if something is unclear. I use English whenever it saves time or avoids confusion, and French increases naturally as you progress. You'll never be left lost.

That's what I hear most often. My job is to make our sessions safe enough that you'll try anyway. Mistakes aren't a problem: they're the raw material we work with. If you don't make any mistakes, you don't need me :)

I looooove my job, I'm passionate about it and I always try my best to share my knowledge. My lessons are built around stories: you follow characters, solve mysteries, live in a village alongside them. You learn French as it's actually spoken and lived.

An interactive pronunciation platform, included in every package at no extra cost, available 24/7. It trains your ear and your mouth on the French sounds English speakers find hardest. I'm trained in the verbo-tonal method, and pronunciation work is built into every course.

Your own space containing the vocabulary, grammar notes and exercises for each session — available any time, so you can revise at your own pace.

Yes, but never as an isolated list to memorise. Grammar arrives at the moment you need it to say something real.

I don't currently run dedicated exam preparation courses. But being a certified examiner shapes how I teach: I know exactly what makes speech clear, structured and convincing to an assessor, and that feeds into every lesson.

The materials are yours to use throughout your course and for your own revision afterwards. They remain my intellectual property, so they can't be copied, shared or resold.

No. I'm a sole trader operating below the VAT registration threshold, so the prices you see are the prices you pay.

Yes, I can issue an invoice to your company. Just let me know the billing details when we speak.

Yes. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 calendar days from booking to withdraw, without giving a reason. Just email me.

If lessons have already started at your request during those 14 days, you pay only for the hours delivered.

Once the withdrawal period has passed, the package is due in full. That's why the free call comes first — so we're both sure before you commit.

Talk to me. Unused hours stay available for up to three months from the start of your package, so a short break is usually easy to absorb. For anything longer, we'll find a solution together.

I keep your contact details and learning notes for up to three years after your last lesson, and invoices for six years as HMRC requires. I never sell your data.

Apps are good at drills. They can't notice that you hesitate before the past tense, adapt a lesson to the meeting you have on Thursday, or (try to) make you laugh in French. AI can translate — but isn't it nicer to have a real conversation with a real person?
